Researchers at New Mexico State University have obtained FAA authorization to operate their two Bat 3 UAVs at the Jornada test range near Las Cruces, NM. The UAVs have been operating for several years providing high resolution imagery data of local vegetation and landscape features used to study desert plant life. The Bat 3 passed FAA airworthiness and flight safety reviews to obtain a COA for local operation at the Jornada range.
